The Ministry of Education and its affiliated bodies are taking part in the activities of celebrating Environment Week 2023 under the slogan "Your Environment Knows You", starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14, for a week, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, many government agencies, the private sector, and environmental associations. These activities aim to raise community environmental awareness and enlighten the educational community about the importance of preserving the environment and natural resources.
As part of Saudi Environment Week activities, the Ministry and its educational sectors and departments in the regions and governorates organize many field and awareness activities in schools and universities. These will be executed through awareness-raising educational campaigns to combat environmental pollution in all its forms and the organization of school visits to the Environment Week 2023 exhibition in the city of Riyadh. The activities include organizing scientific lectures and activities in schools and universities and raising the awareness of students, employees of the Ministry, and the educational community about the importance of environmental balance.
The Ministry of Education seeks to promote positive environmental behaviors for students, introduce the educational community to Environment Week, and raise the awareness of young generations of environmental issues at an early stage, in addition to supporting individual and collective responsibility for preserving the environment.
This is done by inserting many topics and awareness programs into the school curricula at all stages and developing university educational programs to integrate environmental sustainability concepts and practices.
In addition, innovative initiatives will be adopted to qualify students to assume environmental responsibility, including visiting some natural and environmental sites and promoting eco-friendly concepts in educational buildings and projects through many measures and initiatives.
The Ministry's involvement comes within the framework of instilling the principles and concepts of environmental protection and raising awareness of its importance and ways to preserve it among students and the educational community.
This is in line with the government's goal of raising awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and preserving natural resources in all its fields in the various regions of the Kingdom and expanding the green area to promote a healthy society, food security, sustainable development, community well-being and quality of life.
