​​Open Data:

The Ministry of Education will provide data related to education in the Kingdom for online applicant visitors, research centers, universities, and students.
Open usable data approved for public access will be made available for online visitors who can use the data they need for research and similar purposes. Data will be made available in the form of XML and XLS files. This feature enables the relevant authorities to link with and process this data through XML files.

Through the release of open access data, the Ministry of Education aims to create awareness about statistics, reports, studies, factsheets, and research on education in the Kingdom among all beneficiaries. This will lead to knowledge sharing from the perspective of a knowledgeable, educated, and informed society. Moreover, based on the Ministry’s quest to enhance awareness and public participation, open-access data will increase transparency between the Ministry and the society.​

The Ministry of Education's open data is a major variable for studies and research that deal with the development witnessed by education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This data had a positive impact on those studies, such as:

The study aimed to identify the current practices of Saudi universities in managing open data, especially research data from them.
The study confirmed:

  1. The need for Saudi universities and research institutions to keep pace with the global information movement, support, encourage, and promote it in various ways.
  2. The necessity of converting the current pages and websites of open data in universities into facilities through which various informational, advisory, technical, and applied research data services are provided.
  3. It is necessary to urge Saudi universities, especially those related to scientific research, to establish scientific research deanships, research chairs, and scientific societies for researchers to publish the research data of their scientific studies openly.

The study aimed to identify the satisfaction with open data platforms in Saudi public universities, analyze them according to codified standards, and compare them to find out the extent of open data activation and the similarities and differences between universities, while contributing to their development and providing a model for the best open data platform among Saudi public universities.
 The study has found several results, the most important of which are:
  1. The availability of open data through Saudi public universities contributes to introducing open data, supporting scientific research, enhancing participation, increasing transparency, creating awareness, and raising the level of knowledge.
  2. Most Saudi public universities have made open data platforms available.
  3. Most of the open data platforms in Saudi public universities achieve a lower than average rate in the availability of open data evaluation criteria on their platforms.

The study aimed to propose an ethical code for school students' use of the tools of globalization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The descriptive approach and the questionnaire were used as tools for the study, and the study population consisted of all secondary school teachers in the city of Hail.
The most important results that the study reached are: 
The reality of school students' use of the tools of globalization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came to a medium degree, and the fields were ranked in descending order as follows: (religious, social, moral).
There are statistically significant differences in the responses of male and female teachers to school students’ use of the tools of globalization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study confirmed that these differences are due to the variables of academic qualification in favor of graduate studies and experience in favor of more than 15 years.
There are no statistically significant differences due to the gender variable.

The study searches for the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which is a framework for transformation and change into a knowledge-based society. It begins with developing the educational system, raising the quality of education outputs, increasing the effectiveness of scientific research, and encouraging creativity and innovation, which imposes the importance of keeping pace with scientific research in general and educational in particular with the directions of the vision and addressing the most important issues and priorities that it adopts. The study aimed to formulate a research map for the specialization of educational administration for the departments related to the colleges of education in Saudi universities by investigating the priorities and issues that can be drawn from the directions contained in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The study relied on the Delphi method, where the researcher applied an expert opinion poll on a sample of members The teaching staff ( faculty members ) in the educational administration  departments in (10) Saudi universities, in addition to a number of experts in the Ministry of Education - Saudi Arabia who have obtained a doctorate degree in educational administration . 
The opinion poll included five main axes on research priorities related to governance, institutional development, and structuring, as well as social, economic, political, and cognitive priorities. The study presented a proposed research map for educational administration based on a number of objectives and included the most important areas, research priorities, and issues that fit with the directions of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The study aimed to identify the reality of human resources planning in the Ministry of Education’s Human Resources Agency in Saudi Arabia from the point of view of its male and female employees by identifying the degree of human resource planning practice and the obstacles it encounters. Then, these proposals would be presented to the concerned authorities for the development and improvement of human resources planning in the Ministry of Education. The study was applied to a representative sample consisting of 201 male and female employees, and the descriptive approach was adopted using the survey method and the questionnaire as a tool for the study.
The results of the study showed the following:
  1. The human resources planning practices are carried out to a high degree in the Human Resources Agency, while the obstacles come to a moderate degree, most notably the lack of specialized experience of human resources planning officials and the continuous change in organizational structures in the Ministry of Education.
  2. The significance of reactivating the General Department of Human Resources Planning in the Ministry of Education's Human Resources Agency.
  3. Taking care of qualifying and training the staff of the Human Resources Agency to carry out the functions of human resources management, including planning.
  4. Leverage successful local and international experience and expertise to implement best practices in human resource planning.

The study aimed to identify the impact of the supervisors' reluctance to participate in the Education Excellence Award, as well as to identify the reasons that led to the supervisors' reluctance to participate in the Education Excellence Award, in addition to discovering ways that motivate the supervisors to participate in the Education Excellence Award. The research used the descriptive survey method, and it was comprised of a sample of the female supervisors of the Tabala Education Office of the Bisha Education Department.
The study revealed a number of results, the most important of which were:
  1. There is a significant impact of the supervisors' reluctance to participate in the Ministry of Education Excellence Award on the quality of institutional performance.
  2. It is necessary to motivate the supervisors to work to participate actively in the Excellence Award with the presence of a committee that evaluates the work and provides feedback.

The study aimed to identify the female teachers and staff’s acceptance of the use of the Faris system, which is an integrated web-based system that provides various services to teachers and officials through an integrated electronic system on the Internet.
Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 female employees working in the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The main results of this study indicate:
  1. The female employees have rated the Fars program positively, and this indicates that the Saudi Ministry of Education has sought to implement the electronic self-service program.
  2. The Ministry of Education's success in taking several considerations concerning all segments when formulating its strategy.
  3. The Ministry of Education ideally focuses on improving its operations in order to provide better service to female employees.
  4. The necessity to work on addressing any problems in the system to meet the needs of teachers and female workers in the ministry.​

The Ministry of Education is glad to welcome visitors from a variety of backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, the business sector, and government agencies, to take advantage of the Ministry's open data and to benefit technically in a variety of ways, including research, reports, and statistics. Furthermore, designing Internet applications, whether Web applications or smart device applications, mobile applications for various operating systems, such as iOS or Android, and the like.​

Main principles and general rules for data sharing:

  • Enhancing the sharing of the main data produced by the Ministry of Education in order to achieve integration between the various agencies inside or outside the Kingdom and adopt the "one-time principle" to obtain data from its correct sources and reduce duplication, conflict and multiple sources.
  • All parties involved in the data-sharing process must make available all the necessary information for data exchange, including: the required data, the purpose of its collection, its means of transmission, methods of storing it, the controls used to protect it and the mechanism for its disposal. 
  • Applying ethical practices during the data sharing process to ensure that it is used in a framework of justice, integrity, honesty, and respect and not only adherence to information security policies or compliance with relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • All parties involved in the data sharing process apply appropriate security controls to protect data and share it in a secure and reliable environment in accordance with relevant regulations and legislation, and in conformity with what is issued by the National Cyber Security Authority.
