Launching the National Initiative to Discover Passion and Unleash Potential in Science and Technology at King Salman Science Oasis

His Excellency, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, the Minister of Education, today sponsored the launch of the National Initiative to Discover Passion and Unleash Potential in Science and Technology (STEAM) for the years 2025-2030. The event was held at the King Salman Science Oasis in Riyadh.​

His Excellency, Dr. Khalid bin Abdul Qader Taher, the Supervisor General of the King Salman Science Oasis, explained that the National Initiative to Discover Passion and Unleash Potential (2025–2030) arises from the Oasis's commitment to advancing the national strategic objectives set forth in Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative focuses on developing human capabilities and aims to build upon the successes achieved through the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education in organizing science and technology festivals in Riyadh.

His Excellency emphasized that the initiative aims to integrate programs between the government and non-profit sectors. It aims to ignite passion and enhance capabilities in science and technology, benefiting students, teachers, and families. This aligns with the Kingdom's national priorities in research, development, and innovation.

Dr. Hassan Kharmi, the Deputy Minister of Education for General Education, stressed during his remarks at the occasion that "the journey of leadership in education continues, thanks to the generous and significant support from our wise leadership." This support is commendable because it focuses on underperforming schools, emphasizing the idea that excellence can only be reached via fair chances and boosting standards for all."

He highlighted the collaborative efforts and resource mobilization between the Ministry, which has developed expertise in STEM fields, and the King Salman Science Oasis, known for its extensive experience. He clarified that the initiative aims to benefit general education students across all educational levels, along with teachers, educational staff, families, and the local community.

The Deputy Minister of Education for General Education praised the initiative's organizers for their efforts, viewing the execution of 11 science festivals throughout the Kingdom as an inspiring example of this collaboration. This initiative helps position the oasis as a national icon, promoting useful, applied, and experimental science among school students.

The ceremony featured the signing of several memoranda of understanding between the King Salman Science Oasis and various government and private entities that collaborate in the National Initiative to Discover Passion and Unleash Potential in Science and Technology. Additionally, the ceremony recognized the initiative's sponsors for their valuable contributions.

This strategic initiative, developed by the ministry in collaboration with the King Salman Science Oasis, seeks to foster a scientific culture within the kingdom while aligning with the goals of the education and culture ecosystem. It focuses on enhancing learning outcomes in science and technology (STEM) by promoting understanding and practical application through interactive experiences, innovative exhibits, workshops, and specialized dialogue sessions. These activities are based on the principle of learning through entertainment and are aligned with the goals of the Human Capability Development Program and Saudi Vision 2030.

In its first phase, the initiative plans to organize 11 science festivals during the current academic year in several regions across the Kingdom. It aims to provide an interactive educational experience for all segments of society, support the discovery of passion, and develop knowledge, values, and skills. Additionally, it seeks to build sustainable strategic partnerships with the private and non-profit sectors.
