The Ministry of Education and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) sign a partnership agreement wherein the Kingdom supports the global partnership with $38 million.
The Ministry of Education signed a partnership agreement with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) today. Saudi Arabia will contribute $38 million to support the organization, during the Human Capacity Initiative Conference. The conference is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and President of the Council of Ministers and Chairman of the Human Capability Development Program Committee. The event takes place over two days at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, and the CEO of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Ms. Laura Frigenti. With this new partnership, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and GPE have committed to working together to support the transformation of education in low-income countries, increase investment in education as a powerful force to spur growth in the region and beyond and prepare young generations for twenty-first-century jobs.
The Minister of Education said during the signing ceremony, “The Kingdom, under the guidance of wise leadership—may God support it—is making great efforts in supporting educational projects around the world and working to achieve the goals of the Global Partnership for Education. In addition, recognizing that a prosperous future hinges on unlocking people's potential, Saudi Arabia is investing in the development of human capital as an engine for growth."
His Excellency emphasized the significance of education as a human right and a major driver of sustainable development. He stressed that enhancing and advancing human capabilities can only be achieved by prioritizing and supporting education, skills development, health, and nutrition for future generations since filling tomorrow's jobs starts with today's students.
For her part, the CEO of the Global Partnership for Education welcomed Saudi Arabia’s official joining as a supporting partner for education at the international level. The CEO highlighted that Saudi support will enhance the organization’s continuation of its global efforts to provide quality education that every male and female student needs, to nurture and empower them to face the challenges of tomorrow and build a brighter future
