His Excellency the Vice Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Sudairi, participated in the roundtable meeting of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) 2021, organized by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development; and in the presence of a number of ministers and a group of prominent thinkers and innovators.
In the dialogue session that he attended on behalf of the Minister of Education at the inaugural high-level session on multilateral cooperation, His Excellency stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its efforts to develop the education system to achieve the objectives of Vision 2030. These have included enhancing skills to compete globally, enhancing knowledge and instilling human and educational values.
Dr. Al-Sudairi said, "The strategy of the Human Capability Development Program focuses on raising the capabilities of citizens by providing lifelong learning opportunities, supporting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and developing and activating policies and enablers to ensure the competitiveness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He noted that the initiatives, that the Ministry supervises in the program, concentrated on developing the capabilities of students and teachers, investing in research and innovation, and raising the quality of the educational process, in addition to developing schools in remote areas.
His Excellency added that the initiatives and projects had included the establishment of student exchange programs to enable local and international university students to study one or two semesters at a partner international educational institution. They also aimed to develop internal and external scholarships and financial support mechanisms for them, while amending the educational policy to eliminate restrictions imposed on individuals who finished their secondary education more than 5 years ago and wish to continue education, and enabling students to exit and multiple entry through equivalency of subjects and study hours.
The Vice Minister of Education for Universities pointed to the Kingdom's qualitative achievements in e- learning and distance education with the testimony and recognition of international organizations. He also mentioned what the "Madrasati" platform had reached as a global model in distance education, and the provision of 24 educational channels in an unprecedented number globally.
His Excellency noted the importance of international cooperation in all aspects, including education, research and innovation, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, as effective multilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science and technological innovation has become an imperative to meet future challenges, build human capital, and achieve sustainable development goals. He pointed out that through the exchange of experiences and the activation of joint initiatives, the quality of education systems can be significantly improved, and a high level of excellence is reached, while facilitating education for all. He also pointed out that education plays a key role in building sustainable and resilient societies that are capable of facing challenges and responding to changes in all times.
