The Ministry of Education celebrates World Arabic Language Day every year on December 18 under the theme "The contribution of the Arabic language to human civilization and culture," confirming the Arabic language's significant and numerous contributions to knowledge production and the enrichment of cultural and linguistic diversity of humanity.
Based on the significance of the language's role in creating communication bridges between cultures and peoples, as well as its contributions to the production and transmission of knowledge throughout history and the encouragement of dialogue, the Ministry of Education works to strengthen the status of Arabic among students at all academic levels.
The Ministry of Education is exerting great efforts to support the Arabic language and enhance its status by integrating and consolidating reading comprehension skills and Arabic calligraphy into school curricula, as well as encouraging its use in educational institutions as a language of communication between teachers and students and motivating them to take part in Arabic language competitions. Additionally, the Ministry is encouraging scientific translation from foreign languages into Arabic and establishing departments and colleges of Arabic language in public and private universities.
The Ministry of Education offers initiatives and programs to teach Arabic to non-native speakers in Saudi schools abroad and at education missions in host countries, in addition to opening institutes and projects supporting its learning abroad, serving scholarship students and their children, Arab and Islamic communities, and introducing Arab culture on a large scale.
On World Arabic Language Day, the Ministry of Education encourages participation of its employees, students, and teachers at the level of schools in the regions and governorates of the Kingdom, education offices and departments, universities, and the Ministry, as well as digital platforms such as "Madrasati" and "Rawdhati," in addition to IEN educational TV channels.
